The National Ballet Company based in Lisbon is the hub for the current revival of dance in Portugal, and has two leading choreographers for the revolution.

The National Ballet of Portugal does more than perform classical repertoire. Past programs of the troupe based in Lisbon include the greatest names in contemporary dance, from William Forsythe to Akram Khan and Sasha Waltz, plus many more. The troupe has already embraced the original universe of Tânia Carvalho who fascinates the world of ballet with her symbolist and contemporary expressionism. Facing her is the daring young choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira who has taken the corps de ballet apart to rebuild it, bringing frenzied rhythm and great collective momentum. An impressive company and a celebration to mark the end of the France-Portugal season.
