Saïdo Lehlouh dances, and the key lines of a multifaceted society lightup in A SUBTLE INTERPLAY BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE GROUP, AND THEN DEVELOP INTO HARMONY WITH HYPNOTIC FORCE
Témoin [Witness] highlights individual identities and brings change to constellations, recalling the choreographer’s previous work Apaches, deployed in numerous versions with from 15 to 130 persons of all ages, often presented in areas open to the public, to address the question of what makes a community. By focusing on the experience and practices of the performers, the original work displays the full wealth of dancing on the fringe as expressed in a diversity of styles. Initial tension felt between society and an individual’s relationship with a group produces a mild, attentive kindness, then the individual is followed or influenced, asserting a personal level of movement.
