Bovary Madame Based on the work of Gustave Flaubert
Christophe Honoré • Original

WILD DREAMS OF IMPOSSIBLE FREEDOM. THE SEARCH FOR EMMA BOVARY.
What do we really know about Emma Bovary? Since 1857, she has been analysed from all angles. To some, she’s just wayward wife from the provincial bourgeoisie, to others, she’s a feminist icon. The mysterious and fascinating Emma Bovary has lived on through the centuries, her passionate love for freedom never ceasing to clash with the taboos of prudish, hypocritical, patriarchal society. Christophe Honoré blends circus, pantomime and cinema to paint the portrait of a heroine filled with renewed desire and hope. A work to finally shatter our judgments about a woman’s life and choices. Amongst a cast of the director’s longtime collaborators, Ludivine Sagnier will play Emma, a woman who never gave up on her destiny.
