A star performer for Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal, Cristiana Morganti has blown us away with her energy, humour and generosity, creating a series of solos about her career, life and the condition of women. Now she’s back, facing her alter-ego, played by Lisa Lippi Pagliai, and recalling a turbulent childhood. The autobiographical elements of her work remain, although this time the narrative, co-written with theatre director Claudio Tolcachir who guides her through her memories, leads her to embody some iconic heroines of the world stage. In this piece we see her perform in a new way, drawing on her lived experience and her imagination, but also Shakespeare, Chekhov, Tennessee Williams and others. Here, life is a forest of ghosts, shadows and desires, and tragi-comic tale of betrayed love. A marvellous actress and legendary dancer, Morganti always surprises!
