REMEMBERING A REVOLUTION TO REVIVE THE POWER OF ITS POTENTIAL TODAY.

A tennis club transformed into a creche, workers taking control of their sportswear factory: Torrente brings us a plethora of true stories. This documentary play takes us to the nineteen months following the Carnation Revolution (1974): the Ongoing Revolutionary Process (PREC). A period when the utopia of a popular, anticapitalist, anti-bourgeois revolution sparked hopes and movements, and when everyone across the country, literate or not, participated in the creation of a new world. But what is a revolution? And what is a Revolutionary Process? On stage, archives, artefacts, stories and role-plays come together in a free and lively form, exploring these questions and reactivating memories. Brought to us by the Teatro do Vestido and Joana Craveiro, this performance investigates memory, forgetting, our silence and our actions. Perhaps to find momentum, all we have to do is seek it out and talk about it.
