Description

BASED ON FIRST-PERSON ACCOUNTS BY BLIND PEOPLE, A FASCINATING MEDITATION ON THE PARADOXES OF PERCEPTION AND MEMORY.

A man recalls attending a performance that he did not see. He is blind. He has forgotten the play’s title. Based on his incomplete reminiscences, a theater company tries to recreate the performance. They soon discover that the man has unintentionally added personal memories to the fiction. This intriguing experience is one of the high points of La Vie invisible, a performance conceived and directed by Lorraine de Sagazan and written by Guillaume Poix based on first-person accounts of blind people. Played by a blind or visually impaired amateur actor and professional actors, this sensitive and meticulously devised play avoids stereotypes about blindness to offer a richly researched theatrical meditation on the highly paradoxical notion of point of view.
