A POWERFUL AND SPELLBINDING WORK. AN AGE-OLD PARABLE SHEDDING LIGHT ON TODAY.

There are stories that cut through the din of life and rekindle something deeply human within us. The Caucasian Chalk Circle tells the story of a young woman, Groucha, who saves a child abandoned by nobles fleeing the chaos of war. She raises the child with courage and affection but, years later, the biological mother returns. To whom does the child belong? Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota is restaging this work with the Théâtre de la Ville Troupe: a retelling with modern-day irreverence, wit and poetry. A work of great warmth, conviction and humour, The Caucasian Chalk Circle champions kindness as a form of resistance and generosity as a political act. A vital message in a fractured world marked by exile and injustice, this piece speaks to what we chose to protect, and moreover, what we wish to pass on.
