Irish dance workshop
Jean Butler
* Within available seats limit
Jean Butler takes you on a journey from traditional steps to a new kind of dance
Starting with the basic steps, rhythms and motifs of Irish dance, Jean Butler invites us to explore the infinite possibilities of the genre: deconstructing it, rebuilding it and sometimes taking it in unexpected directions. No experience in Irish dance is necessary.
Artist and choreographer, Jean Butler reinvents traditional Irish dance with a contemporary twist. Longtime star of the famous Riverdance, her choreography has been performed in theatres and festivals internationally. Along with the New York Public library, she also created the Our Steps project to archive the steps of traditional Irish dance, now under threat of extinction.
In 2024, she won the most prestigious prize awarded by TG4, Gaelic language television.
